LUKE 24: 1-12

This is during the first day of the week during the early morning Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James.  They brought the spices which they had prepared.  Remember the spices which was given to Mary and Joseph when Jesus was born?  Well , as it was given then is what they were going to use for burial Jesus.  They looked and found the stone rolled away when they approached from the tomb.  When they entered in they found no body of the Lord Jesus Christ there.

When they looked as though they were bewildered behold two men stood by them dressed royal dazzling apparrel.  They were frighten and because of them they bowed there head.  The men said unto them, why do you seek the living among the dead, Jesus is not here he has risen. They were told to remember how he spoke with them when he was in Galilee, saying the son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men and be cruisified, and the third day rise again.  They remembered and went to tell the eleven disciples.  The words they told them appeared to be idled and lost with unbelief.  Peter then ran to the tomb and looked in to see the linen cloth by themselves.  He wondered about that which came to pass that Jesus told them would happen.

Two were going to the villiage named Emmaus which was said threescore furlong from Jeruslem, meaning 7 and 1/2 miles when they met Jesus from Jerusalem.  They communicated about what had happened.  While this was going on they question each other and Jesus drew near to them walking with them.  What are you speaking about with one another as they walked.  There eyes did not recognized him standing still looking sad.

One of them named Cleopas answered and said are you walking on your journey to Jerusalem and do not know what has happened and came to pass there?   Jesus said what things?and they said to him, the things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty indeed and word before God and all the people.  How the chief priest and our rulers delivered him up to be condemed to death and crucified him.  We hoped that it would be him that should redeem Israel.  Also women of our company amazed us even more when they said they had seen angels in a vision that told them Jesus was alived.  Others that were with us went to the tomb and found it like they had said empty.  Jesus body was not there.  Jesus said, Oh foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets had spoken.  Is it not the Christ to suffer these things and to enter his glory.

He spoke of Moses and from all the prophets by interpreting to them in all the scriptures the things concrening himself. As they grew nigh unto the villiage where they were going and he walk as he was going on further than them.  They stopped him and said to him abide with us for its close to evening and the day is about gone.  He went in with them and sat down with them to eat took the bread and blessed it and gave to each of them, and their eyes were open and they knew it was him.  He vanished out of their sight and they said to one another.  Was not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?  and they rose up the very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together and then those who were with each other saying, The Lord is risen indeed and had appeared to Simon. and they rehearsed the things that happened in the way and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread.

As they were speaking about him he stood in the midst of them and saith unto them Peace be unto you but they were terrified and frighten and thought they may have seen a spirit.  He said to them why are you troubled? what kind of questions arise in your heart? See my hands he showed them his hands and feet.  While they still were in disbelief for joy and wondered he said unto them have you anything to eat? they gave him a piece of broiled fish.  He took and ate before them.  He said to them these are my words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you that all these things must need to be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me.  Then he open their mind, that they might understand the scriptures, and he said unto them This which is written that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day.  and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.  You are wittnesses of these things and behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you but you must tarry in the city until you be clothed with power from on High.

And then he led them out until they were over against Bethany and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.  And they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the Temple blessing God. AMEN
